Finding Peace and Hope During Times of Uncertainty

There is HOPE. Sometimes it feels like the rain will never stop; it just keeps pouring down. So many changes. Stress. Anxiety. It's overwhelming. But the storm will pass eventually. Yes, another one will come along—but we become stronger as we view our trials as stepping stones, rather than stumbling blocks. It’s hard, but we can still find things to be grateful for. I have been comforted during these troubling and uncertain times through lots of prayer.

And I have found peace through my Savior, Jesus Christ. “He is the ‘life boat’ that rescues me.”

Please listen to and share this song/video I wrote and put together. I was inspired to write it back in March, as we faced the pandemic--and it remains relevant with the civil unrest we’ve been experiencing lately as well. These lyrics have basically been my mantra since then, to help me through my personal struggles, and my battle with chronic depression and anxiety. And I hope they can speak to your heart also.

Hold On

Words and Music © 2020 by Clarissa Allred

Arranged by Sebastian Gottlieb (MellowNightz)

[VERSE 1]

I feel dark clouds rolling in

And here I am, lost at sea

Will I see the sun again?

No more of this uncertainty

Battered by the rain

And burdened with despair

I need shelter from this pain

Oh please, is there someone there?

So I call upon the Father, to help calm these troubled waters

And Christ is the lifeboat that rescues me

[CHORUS]

Hold on

Stay strong

Don’t be afraid

After the storm will come a rainbow

The clouds will clear—trust me, I know

There is promise of a new day

Just hold on

[VERSE 2]

I find refuge from the thunder

As I put my trust in Him

Crashing waves still pull me under

But I won’t sink, I choose to swim

Trying to be brave

But I feel all alone

Oh am I worthy to save?

I can’t do this on my own

So I call upon the Father, to help calm these troubled waters

And Christ is the lifeboat that rescues me

[CHORUS]

Hold on

Stay strong

Don’t be afraid

After the storm will come a rainbow

The clouds will clear—trust me, I know

There is promise of a new day

Just hold on

[BRIDGE]

Hold on tight, it will get better

As we unite, and fight this weather

There is hope

We’ll find peace

And love will set us free

[CHORUS]

So, hold on

Stay strong

Don’t be afraid

After the storm will come a rainbow

The clouds will clear—trust me, I know

There is promise of a new day

Just hold on

[OUTRO]

He is my compass

My anchor

My Lord

and my Savior

And he’ll be the lifeboat for you and me

Just hold on
